Armenia's Honorary Consulate Opens in Singapore

The Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Indonesia reports that on May 16, the official opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of Armenia was held in Singapore. The event was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Singapore, Serob Bejanyan, and the Director General of the Directorate of Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore, Hon Mun Low.

After the official ceremony, a reception was organized in the courtyard of the St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church in Singapore. Ambassador Serob Bejanyan, Director General Hon Mun Low, and the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia, Tim Jin Cheng, delivered welcoming remarks.

In his speech, Ambassador Bejanyan highlighted the importance of establishing the Honorary Consulate, emphasizing that it will give a new impetus to developing Armenian-Singaporean relations in various fields. Hon Mun Low touched upon the historical presence of the Armenian community in Singapore and their significant contribution to the history of Singapore.

Honorary Consul Tim Jin Cheng expressed gratitude for the honor entrusted to him and presented the upcoming programs and initiatives aimed at deepening economic and business ties between Armenia and Singapore.

The reception was attended by ambassadors of several countries accredited in Singapore, representatives of embassies, members of state structures and the Armenian community, and businessmen.

During the event, the national anthems of Armenia and Singapore were performed by Singapore-based Armenian singer Gayane Vardanyan.

At the end of the event, flowers were laid at the khachkar dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide located in the churchyard.
