The visa liberalization process is underway in full swing

On May 9, Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan participated in the event dedicated to Europe Day, during which she delivered a speech.

"First, let me congratulate you on this meaningful and memorable day - Europe Day, which symbolizes peace, unity, and cooperation. The progress recorded in Armenia-European Union relations over the past years reflects the strong commitment of the Armenian government to strengthening the bilateral agenda with the European Union.

As the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, noted during his speech to the European Parliament in October 2023, we are determined to deepen multifaceted cooperation with the European Union. The steps that followed have proven our loyalty to that promise. The European Union is an essential partner on Armenia's path to democracy.

With the signing of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, a new chapter was opened in Armenia-European Union relations. In implementing the Agreement, we attach importance to the activities of the European Union-Armenia Civil Society Platform and reaffirm the government's commitment to the effective implementation of the measures set out in the Roadmap, emphasizing the role of civil society on this path.

I consider the formation of a new democratic institution in Armenia, represented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to be an important achievement. It became a reality due to the efforts and dedication of our international partners, including the European Union, civil society partners, all relevant state bodies, and every member of the public.

Evidence of the progress made is that, under the willing leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and myself, the process of liberalizing entry visas is proceeding at a rapid pace. This is an important milestone for Armenia in the context of its aspirations towards the European Union and, at the same time, an assessment of the reforms implemented in the field of migration management in Armenia.

Visa liberalization with the European Union will significantly impact our country's economy, creating new opportunities for economic growth, investments, and the development of various sectors. It will also facilitate people-to-people contacts and strengthen business, social, and cultural ties between Armenian and European Union citizens.

We are ready to implement and invest maximum effort in developing an Action Plan on Visa Liberalization, which we consider a strategic roadmap for modernizing migration, internal security, and border management.

We highly appreciate the precise determination of the EU and its Member States to continue deepening cooperation with Armenia and reaffirm the determination of the Armenian government to move closer to the European Union.

This memorable day symbolizes the imperative of finding unity decades ago and the strength of the strong determination shown by EU Member States to build a secure future jointly. Happy Europe Day."
