Citizen's Day will be celebrated on April 26, where events will be held

According to the RA Law "On Holidays and Commemorative Days," the last Saturday of April is celebrated as Citizen's Day. On April 26, as part of Citizen's Day, several events will be held in the regions of the Republic of Armenia and the administrative districts of Yerevan this year, as in previous years.

A series of public discussions and lectures titled "Build your state: be law-abiding, dedicated, and caring" will be held in 79 communities and settlements of Armenia's regions and 12 administrative districts of Yerevan.

On the same day, cultural events in the "street art" format with the participation of local groups will be organized in the capital, Yerevan, and in the 2025 Youth Capital of Armenia, Aparan.

Ahead of Citizen's Day, at the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports initiative of the Republic of Armenia, students of general education schools are implementing educational projects titled "Build your state: be law-abiding, dedicated and caring." Within the framework of project work, schoolchildren study various problems of their settlement and community, proposing solutions for them that will strengthen the state, community, and settlement. On April 26, all schools will publish project works on their Facebook pages.

Within the framework of Citizen's Day, the cultural events organized on April 26 aim to promote civic education, patriotism, national identity, statehood, and appreciation of state symbols through flash mobs, outdoor exhibitions, concert programs, and national musical instruments.

Two major platforms will be formed within the framework of Citizen's Day: Cultural programs will be organized on Yerevan's Northern Avenue from 16:00-18:00 and in the central square of Aparan, the 2025 Youth Capital, from 11:30-18:00, with the participation of students of the National Center of Aesthetics, college orchestras and choirs, folk and pop vocal and dance groups of art schools, and famous musical groups.

Representatives of state and community authorities, successful figures in the fields of education, science, technology, sports, and culture, as well as active public figures, will act as speakers in the organized public meetings and discussions and will present their ideas and experiences about the role of citizens in the development of the state, the image and behavior of citizens. The speakers will present their successes and achievements in a question-and-answer format while simultaneously discussing issues related to the civic approaches and value issues of the participants of the meeting, especially young people.

The lectures in Armenia's regions and in the capital, Yerevan, are planned to start at 12:00 or 15:00. They will be followed by short cultural events summarizing the lectures, with the participation of students of community art schools and creative groups.

In addition to the above-mentioned platforms, within the framework of Citizen's Day, lectures and discussions with young people's participation will also be organized in the youth centers "Ijevan Loft," "Duco," "Meghri Loft," "TsoVem," and "Ararat Youth Initiatives Center," which were created with state support.

This format of events aims to value the concepts of "citizen" and "statehood" in the public consciousness and to foster caring, dedicated, and responsible behavior toward the state and society.
