The Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in France reported that a commemoration ceremony dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was held in the park perpetuating the memory of the martyrs of the Armenian Genocide in the city of Lille near Paris, with the participation of Counselor of the Embassy of Armenia in France Varduhi Sahakyan, Vice-Prefect of Saint-Denis Cecile Raquet, President of the Saint-Denis Department Stéphane Trussell, Mayor of Lille Lionel Benarus, Mayor of Bobigny Abdel Saadi, representatives of provincial, departmental and municipal authorities, President of the French Armenian community organization “Ani” Philippe Salanche, representatives of the French Armenian community, clergy of the Armenian Apostolic and French Catholic Churches.
During the event, speeches were made, and wreaths were laid by Cecile Raquet, Deputy Prefect of Saint-Denis, Lionel Benarus, Mayor of Lille, Varduhi Sahakyan, Counselor of the Embassy of Armenia, and Philippe Salanche, President of the French Armenian Community Organization “ANI.” A wreath was also laid at the ceremony on behalf of Valerie Pécres, President of the French Ile-de-France region. A prayer of remembrance was performed during the ceremony in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, and the national anthems of Armenia and France were played.
