Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan met with Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong within the framework of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union taking place in Tashkent on April 5-9.
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly presented the regional developments and the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan to the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
“Armenia remains committed to strengthening peace and stability in the South Caucasus,” noted Hakob Arshakyan.
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia highly appreciated Martin Chungong’s efforts to promote dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union expressed support for the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and noted that the Inter-Parliamentary Union will ensure progress in this issue.
The parties discussed issues of ensuring regional peace, including Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative.
The RA NA delegation includes the Ministers of Finance, Credit and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Budgetary Issues, Tsovinar Vardanyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Healthcare Issues, Arsen Torosyan, and Chief of Staff and Secretary General of the National Assembly, Davit Arakelyan.
