"We are convinced that peace has no alternative." Mirzoyan

The RA Foreign Ministry reports that on March 20, during his official visit to Brazil, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan delivered a speech at the Diplomatic Institute of Rio Branco.

In his speech, Minister Mirzoyan touched upon Armenian-Brazilian bilateral relations, the cultural ties connecting the two peoples, the great potential for cooperation, the directions outlined by the results of the meeting with the Brazilian Foreign Minister the day before, and regional and global challenges.

Minister Mirzoyan noted: “Armenia’s strategic ties with South America, where Brazil is one of our main partners, are essential to our foreign policy.

(…) Over these 34 years, our relations have developed into a rich mosaic of political dialogue, cultural exchange, and cooperation.

(…) Our partnership is based on shared democratic values. Armenia and Brazil, with strong civil societies, defend freedom, human rights, and the rule of law – principles that have been tested and reaffirmed along our countries’ journeys.

(…) Of course, football is a global language that unites us with great passion. In the 1990s, early 2000s, and to this day, Armenian children and adults gather around televisions, enthusiastically supporting the golden teams of Brazil. Each successive World Cup victory has imprinted Brazil in our imagination, making the name synonymous with joy and mastery. This shared passion knows no boundaries, igniting discussions in cafes in Yerevan and on the streets of Rio. It is a reminder that our ties are institutional and deeply human.

(…) Despite formidable challenges and constant security threats, Armenia remains steadfastly committed to building peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus. We are convinced that peace has no alternative.”
