RA Defense Minister Suren Papikyan stated in the NA committee that, despite the Azerbaijani side's information about the ceasefire regime violation, a relatively stable operational situation was maintained on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border during 2024.
“To define the main guidelines for implementing radical systemic reforms in the RA Armed Forces, the concept of army transformation was developed, approved, and published in 2024. In addition, an action plan stemming from the concept was developed,” he noted, presenting the defense sector as part of the government’s program implementation.
He also touched upon the modernization programs of armaments and military equipment, noting that supply contracts were signed with several resident and non-resident companies to acquire new models. Engineering and reinforcement works continued, and construction and renovation of permanent deployment sites were carried out.
The committee meeting continues in a closed format, as information that is a state secret will be discussed.
