When will Armenia officially start exporting caviar and fish roe to EU countries?

The EU Delegation to Armenia has excellent news for the Armenian fisheries sector.

“As of March 16, 2025, Armenia will officially have the right to start exporting high-quality aquaculture products to the European Union countries, including scaly fish and their products (caviar and roe). This opportunity has been established by the newly adopted European Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/354, provided that exporting operators are registered in the EU “TRACES” system.

Although Armenia is landlocked, the fisheries sector is quite developed and is strictly controlled by the Food Safety Inspection Authority. Thanks to the latter’s consistent efforts and the support of partners from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (SANTE), the technical process for granting the permit, which took several years, has been successfully completed.

"This important event is a significant step towards Armenia's economic diversification, which will create new opportunities for growth and global cooperation."
