On March 8, at 09:26 local time (05:26 GMT), the seismological network of the Seismic Protection Territorial Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia recorded a magnitude 4.6 earthquake at a depth of 10 km, 6 km northeast of the city of Spitak, Armenia, at geographical coordinates 40.88⁰ north latitude and 44.29⁰ east longitude.
The intensity of the tremor in the epicenter zone was 6-7 points.
The earthquake was felt in Lori, Shirak, and Tavush regions with a magnitude of 4-6 points and in Kotayk, Gegharkunik, and Aragatsotn regions with a magnitude of 2-4 points.
