Dual citizens of Armenia will receive a national driver's license without an exam

On March 6, the Government adopted the resolution "On Amendments and Supplements to the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Armenia of March 26, 2020 N 385-N".

The resolution stipulates that a dual citizen of the Republic of Armenia will be issued a national driver's license without passing qualification exams (theoretical and practical) based on driver's licenses obtained in other countries that comply with the requirements of the 1968 Convention on Road Traffic. Moreover, the new license will be issued without taking the other license.

Within the framework of this procedure:

  1. The citizen must submit a copy of the driver's licenses obtained in other countries, the documents provided for in points 1 and 4 of the list, including an identity document and a receipt for payment of state duty.
  2. A check is carried out to ensure that the citizen is not registered in narcological or psychiatric medical institutions and on the list of persons deprived of the right to drive vehicles, the absence of other (medical) grounds provided for in paragraph 8 of this procedure, as well as the validity of the driver's license obtained in different countries.
After completing the specified procedures, the citizen is photographed using computer equipment, and a national driver's license is issued to him within one working day.

These reforms aim to strengthen public security and develop a safety culture, ensuring a more simplified and efficient process for issuing driver's licenses.
