Happy March 8th

Today is March 8, International Women's Day. This day symbolizes the protection of women's rights and the importance of their social role.

The holiday's origins date back to the beginning of the 20th century. In 1908, women took to the streets in New York, demanding better working conditions and the right to vote. In 1910, German activist Clara Zetkin proposed making March 8 a day of women's solidarity. It officially began to be celebrated in 1911, first in Europe—in Austria, Germany, Denmark, and Switzerland. Then, it gradually spread.

March 8 has been officially celebrated in the Soviet Union since 1921. 1977 the UN recognized it as the Day of Women's Rights and International Peace.

In Armenia, March 8 is also included in the Law on Holidays and Commemorations and is a non-working day. However, from March 8 to April 7, it is customary to celebrate Women's Month, a holiday of motherhood and beauty.

We think you will agree that every day of the year should be a holiday for women, regardless of what is written on the calendar.
