The 2025 Model UN Conference was kicked off and organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the UN Office in Armenia. Students and young professionals from various higher education institutions in the Republic of Armenia interested in the UN and multilateral diplomacy activities participated in the conference. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan and UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia Fhansoise Jacob delivered opening remarks at the event.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that this year's Model UN Conference is the second in number, and it is dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of Armenia's membership in the UN and the Day of the Diplomat of the Republic of Armenia. Vahan Kostanyan highlighted the importance of the continued involvement of the youth of Armenia in the activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UN through the Model UN Conference, which is a good opportunity to get to know international processes and the peculiarities of multilateral diplomacy in more depth. He expressed hope that the conference will contribute to the recruitment of many of its participants to the diplomatic service of the Republic of Armenia in the future.
UN Resident Coordinator Félix Jacob presented the UN's efforts in the areas of sustainable development, human rights, humanitarianism, international peace and security, and youth involvement in the organization's work. He touched upon the programmatic cooperation between Armenia and the UN, emphasizing the importance of youth involvement in current programs.
