On January 23, the European Union announced the launch of three projects to address the needs of refugees in Armenia. The projects will be implemented in cooperation with local and international civil society organizations. The Ministry of Internal Affairs Police reported that Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan and Head of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Nelly Davtyan participated in the launch event.
The EU Ambassador to Armenia, Vasilis Maragos, representatives of international organizations, and interested departments were present. The projects' main goal is to promote the socio-economic inclusion of refugees and provide economic opportunities, which will expand access to social services and contribute to the protection of refugees' rights. Referring to the measures aimed at the needs of refugees, Armen Ghazaryan emphasized that the inclusion of those displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh is always the focus of the state's attention.
The Deputy Minister reaffirmed the Government's commitment to including refugees and emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Government, international partners, and civil society organizations. EU Ambassador to Armenia Vassilis Maragos also confirmed the EU's continued commitment to creating a sustainable future for refugees. In her remarks, Head of the Migration and Citizenship Service Nelly Davtyan reaffirmed the Government of the Republic of Armenia's commitment to finding targeted solutions to the needs of those displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.
