"We intend to continue this tradition." Ararat Mirzoyan to Lavrov

RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan spoke with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the meeting. We present the text of the speech in full.
"Dear Sergey Viktory,

Dear colleagues,

I am pleased about our meeting. My visit is quite relevant in light of the dynamics of the development of our bilateral relations. The last time we met in this format was in July 2023. This visit is a good opportunity to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation and hold a thorough exchange of opinions on several topical issues of regional and international agendas.

Dear colleagues, during the private conversation, Sergey Viktor and I have already briefly touched on several issues, and now we can continue the exchange of opinions with the participation of delegations.

I want to mention the interest of the Republic of Armenia in continuing the effective political dialogue aimed at discussing issues related to our bilateral relations and the regional situation in general.
Armenia has always been committed to the principle of open and constructive dialogue, and we hope that from now on, the Russian side will take into account all aspects of what is happening, avoiding unilateral comments, which, unfortunately, we have seen recently in recent days. And our meeting today will contribute to mutual understanding.

Another critical indicator in bilateral relations is, of course, cooperation on international platforms. We always try to understand the interests of the Russian Federation. There is a desire and understanding that the Russian side will also take into account the interests of the Republic of Armenia on international platforms. Cooperation on international platforms is part of our tradition, and we intend to continue this tradition.

Sergey Victor,

We are also committed to developing relations based on mutually beneficial and practical cooperation and respect for sovereignty, which, most importantly, as I am deeply convinced, corresponds to the interests of our two states.

An essential component of our cooperation and partnership is, of course, the economy, where we notice stable positive results that favorably affect the development of trade relations.

My visit today is also part of our efforts to develop cooperation in formats like the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, the Interparliamentary Commission, and other important platforms. This also applies to the economic interaction within the framework of EAEU, where, in December, Armenia entirely completed its presidency.

In the context of the determination of the Republic of Armenia to increase the economic attractiveness of the South Caucasus region, I am happy to reaffirm Armenia's vision regarding the unblocking of all regional economic and transport infrastructures, the implementation of which is planned within the framework of the "Crossroads of Peace" project.

I want to note with satisfaction that positive dynamics of the development of the Armenian-Russian dialogue can also be observed in the humanitarian sector. Meetings of science and culture figures are regularly held.

In short, the topic is quite broad and multifaceted.

Thank you once again for your attention."
