The executive approved the agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the European Investment Bank "Armenia; Project of the Sisian-Kajaran Road Section," European Fund for Sustainable Development + Special Investment Window 1," to the draft RA law "On ratifying the financial agreement."
The contract is for 236 million euros.
The project will be implemented in three sub-sections: the northern sub-section (the road cut from Sisian to Shenatagh) with a length of 27.1 km, the Bargushat tunnel with a length of 8.6 km, and the southern sub-section with a length of 24.25 km. As part of the project, 11.1 m wide asphalt concrete pavement (including reinforced sides) will be built. With traffic lanes (3.30 m) road, 27 bridges with a length of 4.7 km, and nine tunnels with a total length of 12.5 km, the longest of which is the Bargushat tunnel with a length of 8.6 km.
The contract also defines requirements for mitigating environmental and social impacts, climate change, and road safety measures by EU directives. December. The construction of the road section will contribute to increasing goods turnover, reducing transport costs, involving transit transport, and developing tourism.
