Today is the Christmas Candlemas

The Christmas holiday begins on the evening of January 5, when the day changes according to church order. In the evening, the Christmas Candlelight Liturgy is served in the churches.

To light a candle means to light the lamps. During the Holy Liturgy, the church announces the good news of Christ's birth: "Christ was born and appeared."

People break their fasting, take the lamps lit in the church, and light the streets, bringing the blessing home.

The candlestick also symbolizes the light of the Bethlehem star that led the Magi to the Baby Jesus.
