On December 9, Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan received Maxime Longangue, head of the CE office in Yerevan. Congratulating the Minister of Internal Affairs and wishing him success in his work, Maxim Longange expressed his confidence that the existing cooperation will be strengthened and expanded.
Referring to the support of the Council of Ministers within the framework of the programs implemented jointly with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Maxime Longangue highly appreciated the exceptional cooperation in the direction of the Police Guard, expressed readiness to continue cooperation in the process of forming the unit, developing the sub-legislative field, and training officers, emphasizing the joint achievements registered in the legislative field.
Appreciating bilateral cooperation, Arpine Sargsyan thanked them for their support. In establishing the police guard, the Minister of Internal Affairs emphasized the importance of improving the legislative framework and its consistent and practical application.
Referring to the new standard for the use of force in Armenia, Arpine Sargsyan emphasized the effectiveness of the use of mechanisms for recording torture and other manifestations of ill-treatment and the effectiveness of joint training of the Police, the Investigative Committee, and the Ambulance staff. The head of the CE office also referred to the achievements recorded by the ECHR and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The parties also discussed cooperation issues in migration and citizenship service, prevention of family and gender violence, protection of the rights of displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh, and implementation of the European Court of Human Rights judgments.
