The 74th European Regional Committee (RC74) session of the World Health Organization (WHO) is underway in Copenhagen.
On the agenda are the implementation of the European Region's 2020-2025 work plan, the planning of future activities, and issues related to facing the challenges of the health sector.
"Under the umbrella of universal health coverage, as a key priority of the WHO work program, Armenia is undertaking a wide range of additional reforms, including strengthening the primary health care system, focusing on providing affordable and accessible health services. The continuous improvement of the quality of services remains a strategic priority for us," said Minister Anahit Avanesyan in her speech.
The Minister specifically emphasized the relevance of the topic of mental health during the Committee session, "It is essential to see that mental health and psychological support are a special priority on today's agenda, and we hope that national and pan-European coalitions will play a crucial role in promoting mental health issues, especially violent for addressing the needs of displaced persons, including youth and other vulnerable groups."
At the session, various sectoral issues were discussed, including the new 2024-2029 strategy for effective preparedness and response to emergencies in the European region, including the 2024-2030 action plan for rapid response medical teams.
It is noteworthy that during RC74, nominations and elections for membership of WTO bodies and committees, including the election of the director of the regional office, were also held.
