The 'Youth Capital of the Republic of Armenia 2025 competition,' a significant event for the country's youth development, concluded with the results being announced at the ESCS Ministry. Artur Martirosyan, the deputy minister of MESCS and the chairman of the competition commission, graced the event.
The cities of Abovyan (Kotayk region), Alaverdi (Lori region), Aparan (Aragatsotn region), Martuni (Gegharkunik region) and Noyemberyan (Tavush region) submitted applications.
The current regulations organized the competition, and the meeting of the competition commission convened to summarize the results. According to the results of expert evaluation and short message (SMS) voting, Aparan was declared the youth capital of Armenia in 2025. Deputy Minister Artur Martirosyan thanked the applicant cities for their activity and mentioned the importance of participating in the competition.
"It should be noted that Gavar, the youth capital of 2024, was awarded the title with great honor, proving that the set high bar is being maintained, and the preparation of the cities is improving yearly. The whole purpose of the project is to activate the youth life in the given urban area and to promote the development of relevant infrastructures so that young people live the life of the capital city not only in the title year but also in its becomes continuous and becomes a tradition.
Within the framework of the project, we are directing various state structures and international partners to consider the youth capital of the given year as a primary place for holding different events," said Artur Martirosyan, adding that in this way, an attempt is also being made to promote the development of international relations and the growth of tourist flows in the settlement declared the youth capital.
In this context, Artur Martirosyan noted that the title of youth capital also allows for becoming the center of an event of regional importance, mentioning the example of the 2021 youth capital of Kapan, where the session of the Youth Affairs Council of the CIS participating states and the "100 Ideas for the CIS" competition were held. After organizing the mentioned events, Kapan has already been recognized as the 2026 CIS Youth Capital.
The expert committee, a key player in the 'Youth Capital of the Republic of Armenia 2025 competition, presented their comprehensive observations on the applicant cities, noting that each town had unique strengths and weaknesses.
The representative of the city of Aparan, recognized as the winner, thanked them for the opportunity to participate in the program and emphasized that they participated in the competition with a fighting spirit and a great desire to win the title of the youth capital.
