RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Artur Martirosyan today received the delegation headed by Zehra Kacapor-Dzihic, head of the assessment team of the 2021-2025 Armenia-UN sustainable development cooperation framework.
The evaluation team of the Armenia-UN sustainable development cooperation framework aims to observe the implementation of measures arising from the state development plan of RA education until 2030 to specify the format of the presentation of the results of the summary evaluation of the Armenia-UN sustainable development cooperation framework in the field of education.
Deputy Minister Artur Martirosyan, within the framework of the assessment of sustainable development for 2021-2025, emphasized the cooperation of the Ministry of CGMS with various UN structures, including primarily the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the World Food Organization (WFP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) ), with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in terms of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Deputy Minister of ESCS emphasized the importance of cooperation with various structures of the United Nations and the Office of the Resident Coordinator regarding development programs and crisis response. As an example of the first block, A. Martirosyan presented the support of the United Nations and, in particular, the United Nations Children's Fund in the context of the development and implementation of the "State Plan for the Development of RA Education until 2030", noting that this strategy is a cornerstone for guiding the development of the sector and that the Government of Armenia will support the education sector considered as a critical factor in ensuring sustainable development and inclusive growth. In terms of crisis response, the deputy minister presented the successful experience of cooperation, which exists in terms of coordinating the support of development partners to state efforts in terms of addressing the various, including educational, needs of the covid pandemic and forcibly displaced people from Nagorno-Karabakh.
The cooperation carried out under the coordination of the offices of the Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia and the UN Resident Coordinator in the framework of the 2021-2025 Armenia-UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework was also highlighted, which works through the work of sub-groups convened on periodic principles, in which the RA MESCS actively participates.
