The government has approved the RA draft law "On ratifying the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the United States of America on mutual assistance of their customs authorities," signed in Yerevan on June 11, 2024.
According to the rationale, the agreement lays the groundwork for the formation of cooperation between the customs services of the Republic of Armenia and the United States of America in the customs sphere, for the proper and full regulation of bilateral relations, and for strengthening and expanding opportunities for rapprochement and mutually beneficial cooperation.
The agreement envisages simplification and clarification of information exchange procedures for cooperation and mutual administrative assistance in the fields related to customs affairs. With the application of the agreement, the problems arising during the exchange of information and the implementation of inquiries due to the absence of an international document regulating the inquiries between the customs services of the two countries will be settled.
The provision of mutual assistance between the customs authorities of the two countries will contribute to the proper enforcement of the RA customs legislation aimed at settling problems arising during the customs administration. The agreement will also contribute to faster and more prompt responses and the proper resolution of issues arising during the export and import of goods.
