We are on the right track and will make clear progress at the Los Angeles Olympics. Giloyan

RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Karen Giloyan summarized the competitions of Armenian athletes and spoke about the organizational issues of Paris-2024, Armenia's participation in the Paralympic Games, which will start on August 28, and the "Olympic House of Armenia" operating in Paris.

"The Olympic Games are the most difficult sports event, which becomes a serious test for the organizers. Accepting about 11 thousand athletes, many delegations, and multi-million fans is difficult. Opinions and preferences may differ, but this is the Olympics; there should be peace here because the Olympics were created around stopping wars. Organizationally, the Paris Games were, in my opinion, one of the best. Paris welcomed the Olympians with love, and I am sure that these games will remain the best memory for many," says Karen Giloyan.

Referring to the results recorded by Armenian athletes, the deputy minister of the MESCS notes that 3 of our 15 athletes participated in the Olympic Games with a so-called "white card." They were not expected to win medals, and he considers the overall results satisfactory.

"The adopted policy and developed strategy of the RA government cannot give quick results. Today's investment in sports does not turn into a medal tomorrow. It takes time. The result of the policy conducted by the RA government in sports is currently more visible in the youth and youth championships, judging by the medals. We are on the right track and will make clear progress at the Los Angeles Olympics. Within the next month, we will have professional analyses and discussions, and then we will work with the federations, preparing for the next games," assures Deputy Minister Giloyan.

Armenia in the heart of Paris

Throughout the Olympic Games, the "Olympic House of Armenia" operated in the building of the Armenian General Benevolent Union in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. The initiative became a reality with the support of "Fastex," "Unibank" and "Yucom" companies.

"For the first time, the fans had the opportunity to meet the athletes and communicate with them right after the competition. We organized joint viewings of competitions, which many people attended. I think this was a very successful initiative. We had a piece of hot and enthusiastic Armenia in the heart of Paris," says Karen Giloyan.

About participation in the Paralympic Games

The deputy minister of MESCS also informed that Armenia will have representatives who have won a ranking for the first time at the Paralympic Games, which will be held in Paris from August 28 to September 8. Greta Vardanyan (para-weightlifting), Smbat Karapetyan (wheelbarrow), and Sargis Stepanyan (shot put) of the Armenian national Paralympic team will take part in the games.
