On August 2, Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan received Francoise Jacob, the permanent coordinator of the United Nations in Armenia. Deputy Minister Narek Hovakimyan was also present at the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, the minister congratulated François Jacob on assuming the position and wished success in all initiatives to ensure Armenia's stable economic development.
"Our priority is expanding our cooperation programs with the relevant agencies of the United Nations to achieve the goals of poverty reduction, environmental protection, and sustainable development," said Gevorg Papoyan.
The parties discussed the programs implemented in the field of economy, the continuation of joint work aimed at economic development, and the possibilities of expanding cooperation in trade, agriculture, and several other fields.
The work to ensure long-term stable living conditions was mentioned, as it was necessary to solve the needs of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.
Gevorg Papoyan noted that the RA government is trying to overcome regional conflicts and wants to create a new reality where active political, economic, and cultural ties connect all countries. In this context, the minister presented the government's "Crossroads of Peace" initiative, which can become essential to regional and broader economic cooperation.
