Issues aimed at ensuring equal rights of persons with disabilities and maximum involvement in public life were discussed at the session of the Yerevan City Commission dealing with sectoral problems. The agenda was packed, implemented, and considered programs with systemic solutions.
"Yerevan Municipality, emphasizing and always keeping the issues of people with disabilities in the center of attention, will continue to implement various programs to make Yerevan more inclusive and accessible," noted Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, who chaired the session. 2023 were presented within the framework of the meeting. Implemented, and in 2024, current programs aimed at making Yerevan more comfortable.
The bus fleet, modernized by the public transport reform project, is fully adapted for people with disabilities. The process of installing special elevators in Yerevan's underpasses continues. This year, around 450 ramps are planned for the capital. The technical tasks set precise requirements for the ramps to be comfortable and available for use by different groups. Initiatives are also distinguished in the cultural, educational, sports, and social spheres.
During the session, the interested public organizations presented the sectoral problems that still need to be solved. They will also become partners and supporters of the city in implementing them step by step.
