RA will fight against crimes that threaten world peace

Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan met with President of the International Criminal Court Tomako Akane in the Kingdom of the Netherlands (The Hague).

Grigor Minasyan reminded that on October 3, 2023, Armenia ratified the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, which entered into force on February 1, 2024.

By ratifying the Charter, Armenia reaffirmed its commitment to fight impunity for the most serious crimes that threaten world peace and security. Thus, RA has recognized the ICC's jurisdiction retroactively, committing to align national legislation with the principles of the Rome Statute.

Grigor Minasyan reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to ensure the continuity of the approximation of the national legal framework for the implementation of the Rome Statute, at the same time, expressed readiness to develop the capabilities of relevant law enforcement agencies in the context of the effective implementation of the post-ratification process of the Rome Statute.

Concluding his speech, Grigor Minasyan expressed gratitude to the International Criminal Court for the opportunity to strengthen cooperation.

President of the International Criminal Court Tomako Akane congratulated Armenia on becoming a member of the ICC, expressed readiness to support Armenia in the post-ratification process of the Rome Statute and in other areas of cooperation.
