The American continent is being considered as a new export market

On June 18, Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan received Sarah Morgenthau, Special Representative of the US State Department for Commercial and Business Affairs.

Deputy Minister Narek Hovakimyan was also present at the meeting.

Gevorg Papoyan noted that Armenia highly appreciates the United States' active support in establishing long-term peace in the region and preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Sara Morgenthau reaffirmed the willingness of the United States to consider new economic opportunities in relations with Armenia and to expand the scope of cooperation, as well as expressed their support in the restoration of infrastructure damaged by the disaster.

The parties discussed RA-US trade and economic cooperation, the diversification of RA exports, the consideration of the American continent as a new export market, and the development of an export strategy with the help of USAID, which is currently under active discussion.

Reference was made to the regular event of the "Exchange of Competitiveness of American Countries" program in the Republic of Armenia to be held in the fall of 2024. This program provides a unique opportunity to demonstrate Armenia's economic potential and promote new business ties with North and South America.

Gevorg Papoyan presented to the delegation the possibilities and principles of the RA government's "Crossroads of Peace" project.
