On the night of April 5-6, the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire at the positions of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia with varying intensity from different caliber firearms in a number of directions of the border zone.

In particular, fire was opened between 22:25 and 22:50 in Sotki (Gegharkunik region), 23:15 in Verin Shorzha (Gegharkunik region), 00:15 in Kuti (Gegharkunik region), 23. Between 15-23:20 in Aravus (Syunik region), at 23:05-23:20 in Chinari (Tavush region), at 00:15-01:20 in Movses (Tavush region) located in the direction of RA Armed Forces positions.

It is noteworthy that during the night, most of the shootings of the Azerbaijani armed forces were non-targeted and irregular.

The units of the RA Armed Forces also observed the active movement of vehicles of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the direction of Ishkhanasar between 21:00 and 23:00.

It is obvious that the mentioned actions of the Azerbaijani side had a provocative purpose in order to achieve the initiation of similar counter actions by the units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, in order to obtain facts that "substantiate" the Azerbaijani disinformation of the last period.

The units of the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia, assessing the situation, did not take actions contributing to further escalation, after which the situation calmed down along the border.

The Ministry of Defense also informs that the Azerbaijani propaganda machine spread false information yesterday, trying to present the planned rotation of the RA Armed Forces units as accumulations on the front line.

The relevant division of the RA Ministry of Defense, conducting monitoring and analysis of open sources, also recorded that in recent days there has been an increase in the number of cases of disinformation spread by the Azerbaijani press on the Armenian media, so we urge our compatriots to be vigilant and follow the official news. The Ministry of Defense informs and will continue to inform the public about what is happening along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and contact line.
