As part of his working visit to the USA, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Narek Mkrtchyan, met with the Deputy Manager of the US Agency for International Development, Erin McKee.
WDuring the meeting, which took place in Washington at the USAID central office, the possibilities of expanding cooperation in the process of supporting forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh were discussed. Minister Mkrtchyan presented the measures of social support for people forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, emphasizing the importance of the programs developed by the RA Government based on the assessment of their needs. In this context, cooperation with USAID was also highlighted.
Erin Meekee also emphasized the need to unite efforts in the direction of supporting the displaced persons and stressed that the agency is ready to provide continuous support to the Armenian side in the works aimed at meeting humanitarian needs, implementing democratic reforms, as well as economic development.
Within the framework of the meeting, the priorities set by the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the legislative reforms implemented in the field, as well as the initiatives organized jointly with the US International Development Agency were discussed.
