Armenia and the United Kingdom have a wide range of cooperation

On January 29, RA Minister of High-tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan received John Gallagher, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, to the Republic of Armenia.

Mkhitar Hayrapetyan presented to the ambassador the scope and coordinated directions of the Ministry's activities, referred to the development of the strategy for the development of the high-tech industry, the amendments to the RA Law "On Space Activities" and the preparation of a new legislative package aimed at the development of the IT sector. The minister emphasized that Armenia and the United Kingdom have a wide range of joint cooperation, from implementing legislative changes to implementing practical steps, making the right decisions, and involving experts.

The Ambassador of the United Kingdom congratulated Mkhitar Hayrapetyan on his appointment to the position of minister, emphasizing the technological sector's critical role in the development of bilateral interstate and business relations. According to the ambassador, the ultimate goal of the United Kingdom is to become a technological superpower; to achieve this, they strive to establish strong ties with countries with technological specialists.

John Gallagher spoke about key industry events in the UK last year. The ambassador hoped Armenia would be represented at the "Financial Technology Week" event in the United Kingdom this year. It was noted that all these measures can contribute to the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of technological industry.

Mkhitar Hayrapetyan emphasized forming relations based on mutually beneficial cooperation, noting the presence of a highly qualified workforce and technological infrastructure in Armenia. According to the minister, this is due to the representation of several large global companies in Armenia. In that context, the minister emphasized creating opportunities to bring British companies to Armenia.

The minister noted that historically, the potential of Armenian-British interaction has not been fully realized, and in this regard, the high-tech sector can create serious prospects for cooperation.
