Vache Terteryan met with representatives of the World Bank

RA Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Vache Terteryan met with representatives of the World Bank. The Deputy Minister welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Ministry of Economic and Social Affairs and the WB.

The representatives of the World Bank thanked me for the reception. They emphasized that the visit aimed to discuss several issues related to solid domestic waste management.

Vache Terteryan noted that after studies in the field, they concluded that the organization of garbage collection will be more effective if it is implemented according to the principle of regional management. It involves collecting, sorting, and recycling waste from several regions.

Presenting the general situation, Terteryan also spoke about the "Kotayk and Gegharkunik regions solid domestic waste management program," presented the completed works and the available opportunities, and suggested WB representatives study this program in more detail and submit proposals.

The World Bank's Senior Urban Development Economist, Marcus Lee, was interested in the details of garbage collection in Yerevan and Gyumri, wanting to understand the sector in those cities.

The deputy minister spoke about Yerevan's characteristics in household solid waste management, successful international experiments, and several other issues. Other issues of mutual importance were also discussed during the meeting.
