Today is the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the RA Armed Forces.
On December 5, 1991, Vazgen Sargsyan was appointed Minister of Defense by the decree of Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrosyan. He was the first defense minister of newly independent Armenia without a ministry.
On this day in 1992, the government adopted a decision "On the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia," thereby legally announcing the creation of the Armenian National Army.
