Heavy snowfall was observed last night, especially in Vayots Dzor and Syunik regions, due to the penetration of an active cyclone from the southwest, the "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" (GNCO) reports.
The maximum snow cover height was 90 cm in Jermuk, 35-40 cm in the Hrazdan–Fantan section, 20-25 cm in Goris, Kapan, and Sisian, and 15 cm in Meghri. There is no snow cover in the Ararat Valley.
Last night, the air temperature decreased by 6-10 degrees due to the penetration of cold arctic air currents. The lowest temperature was recorded in the Ashotsk and Tsaghkahovt areas: -17...-18 degrees cold. Rainfall will stop in the entire republic territory this evening, and rainless weather is expected in all regions for the next three days.
From the morning of January 15 until the 17th inclusive, warm tropical air currents will enter the republic from the southwest, as a result of which the air temperature in Lori, Tavush, and Syunik will rise by 12-16 degrees and in other regions of the republic, including Yerevan, by 6-10 degrees.
