The first power unit of the "Akkuyu" nuclear power plant under construction in Turkey has received permission from the Turkish authorities to put it into operation.
"Akkuyu" NPP is Turkey's first nuclear power plant and the world's most significant atomic construction facility. At the same time, 4 power units are being built with the most modern Russian VVER-1200 reactors. The capacity of each nuclear power unit will be 1200 MW.
The Russian side fully finances the project. Design, construction, maintenance, and operation will be carried out by Akkuyu Nuclear Company, the majority shareholder of which is Rosatom.
