Armenia can become a transit country for Iran

During his visit to Tehran, RA Deputy Minister of Economy Narek Teryan met with the Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Executive Director of the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran, Ali Akbar Safai. Vardan Kostanyan, trade attaché of RA in Iran, was also present at the meeting.

Armenian-Iranian relations were discussed, particularly issues related to cargo transportation between the two countries. It was emphasized on both sides that RA can become a transit country for IRA to EAEU and European countries, and IRA can become a transit country for Armenia to countries of the Persian Gulf, Middle Asia, and India.

The Iranian side has expressed readiness to provide Armenian companies with favorable conditions for using Iranian ports. As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to sign a sectoral cooperation memorandum, which will allow the Armenian side to use Iranian ports.
