Ambassador Svenson visited Meghri during his visit to the Syunik region. On the spot, the ambassador met the representatives of Vinet Meghri Women's Resource Center and got acquainted with their activities in Armenia and the region.
At the "Meghri" border checkpoint on the Armenian-Iranian border, the managing staff hosted the ambassador and presented the general area of the checkpoint and border operations.
Next, the ambassador visited Tatev, where the head of the community, Samvel Lalayan, and his team presented the local situation and the implemented development plans. The work of SALAR International, supported by Sweden, aimed at strengthening democracy and good governance at the local level, was also discussed.
At the end of the visit, the ambassador joined the patrol tour of the EU Mission's leading operational base in Kapan to witness the observers' mission aimed at human security in conflict-affected areas on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
