While examining Armenia's complaint against Azerbaijan at the International Court of Justice, Lawrence Martin, one of the lawyers representing Armenia, stated that 100,000 Armenians, the entire population of Nagorno-Karabakh, had to leave their homes and regions.
According to him, they did it under the blows of the "iron fist" of Azerbaijan. "Aliyev said that Armenians are dogs that should be driven out of Nagorno Karabakh. The ethnic Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh are well aware of this policy of Azerbaijan, where children are taught to hate Armenians from the cradle. They write in school textbooks that Armenians should be hated, and the devil's blood flows in their veins," said the lawyer.
He called on the court to examine the footage of Azerbaijanis celebrating the massacres of Armenians during the 44-day war. "Civilians and soldiers mocked the bodies of Armenians, and a park with racist images of Armenians was created in Baku. Although Azerbaijan promised to allow Armenians to return to the occupied territories, this did not happen. Moreover, several more villages in the Lachin Corridor were depopulated," he said, adding that Azerbaijan even issued a stamp about "disinfecting" Karabakh from Armenians.
According to the lawyer, the convention rights claimed by RA are well-founded.
