Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan received today the Director of the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization, Hans Kluge.
"During the last ten months, we expected a clear assessment of the World Health Organization regarding the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, believing that the principle of "Health for all" as a universal value applies to everyone, without any exception, to any other point in the region, as well as to Nagorno-Karabakh. And if, with the help of the WHO, the visibility of this problem for the world would be greater, the reality might have a different picture," Anahit Avanesyan said.
The minister emphasized that the government fulfills the medical care needs of malnourished people with acute, chronic diseases with its funds but is ready to direct the possible support of the WHO to the affected population.
Hans Kluge assured that his visit reflects WHO's commitment to the "Health for All" principle. He also referred to the possibilities of implementing long-term immunization programs and improving the population's mental health by involving doctors from abroad.
