During the meeting held on September 28, Anahit Manasyan referred to the issues raised during the fact-finding activities carried out by him and the staff in the centers implementing primary needs assessment.

The Defender emphasized the necessity of adequately guaranteeing the rights of forcibly displaced persons in the Republic of Armenia. Anahit Manasyan also presented the serious humanitarian problems caused by the Azerbaijani aggression and the violations of fundamental human rights.

The defender referred to the abduction of civilians by Azerbaijan, the torture of Armenian prisoners of war, other forms of inhumane and ill-treatment ,and other cases.

In the context of the protection of the rights of forcibly displaced persons, Anahit Manasyan also presented to the EU ambassador the priorities of the activities of the Ombudsman's staff, emphasizing the importance of carrying out serious work in the framework of the Ombudsman's mandate in the protection of the rights of women, children, persons with disabilities and several other directions.

The human rights defender highly appreciated both the role of the EU delegation in Armenia in the field of human rights protection as well as the long-term experience of stable and effective interaction with the RA human rights defender institution.

In his turn, the ambassador emphasized the activities of the Ombudsman institution and its role in strengthening the proper system of human rights protection. The parties expressed their willingness to continue stable cooperation and emphasize the directions of joint work.
