The delegation headed by the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, is in Dublin to participate in the large-scale European Parliamentary Summit. Speakers of parliaments of 46 member states of the Council of Europe, parliamentarians of observer countries, and heads of interparliamentary organizations participate in the summit.
In total, around 400 delegates will be present at the event. The European conference occurs every two years under the auspices of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg.
One of the conference's topics is "Challenges to Democracy in Unstable Times," within the framework of which the speech of RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan is planned.
The first European Conference of Speakers of Parliaments took place in 1975.
The delegation headed by the Speaker of the National Assembly consists of MPs Arsen Torosyan and Sona Ghazaryan.
