A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs and the independent consulting organization "Berlin Economics." Babken Tunyan, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly, said this on September 14, receiving in the Parliament of Armenia Riccardo Giucci, executive director of the independent consulting organization "Berlin Economics," Dmitri Cherviakov, the organization's representative for Armenia, Mary Navasardyan, executive director of the German Economic Association, and the representative of Germany in our country. "Berlin Economics" independent consulting organization and the RA government have been cooperating for a long time. During our visit to Germany last year, the parliamentarians also expressed our wish for "Berlin Economics" to cooperate with the RA NA to perform analyses for us as well. I should happily note that the organization accepted our offer, as a result of which we are signing a memorandum of cooperation today," Tunyan said.
"We welcome the continuously strengthening democracy and ongoing reforms in RA and support economic cooperation. The memorandum of cooperation is significant for us," said Eric Trintrup, deputy ambassador of Germany in our country, and expressed hope that the research conducted by the independent consulting organization "Berlin Economics" will positively impact the work of the RA Parliament.
In this context, the executive director, Riccardo Giucci, said that the organization is not political but consultative.
After the memorandum signing ceremony between the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs and the independent consulting organization "Berlin Economics," Riccardo Giucci presented a study entitled "Economic consequences arising from the opening of the Armenia-Turkey border". The following research was about the economic impact of Russian citizens on RA. The main speaker, Dmitry Cherviakov, said that since February 2022, 55,000 Russian citizens have come to our country, which has positively impacted the RA economy and GDP.
At the end of the meeting, Babken Tunyan, the commission's deputy chairman, thanked the guests for their cooperation and for researching topics of great importance to our country. The deputy chairman of the commission noted that the collaboration with the experienced specialists of the "Berlin Economics" organization is an invaluable support for the deputies of the economic block of the RA NA from the point of view of improving the quality of adopted regulations. He also hoped that the cooperation would continue and further deepen Armenian-German relations.
