Michael J., president of the international human rights organization Freedom House. Referring to the worsening humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and the information about the accumulation of military equipment along the line of contact between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Abramovitz made the following statement:
"We are deeply concerned about the information about the accumulation of Azerbaijani military equipment along the line of contact between Azerbaijan and Armenia. We condemn any plan to attack the sovereign territory of Armenia and call on the mediating parties to work towards ensuring the integrity of Armenia's borders.
Azerbaijan's blockade of the Lachin Corridor poses a threat of ethnic cleansing to the Armenian population of the region and exacerbates the ongoing humanitarian crisis. We call on the government of Azerbaijan to engage sincerely in peace talks, refrain from using the security of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians as a weapon against them, and open the Lachin Corridor to guarantee the unhindered two-way movement of people, vehicles, and goods. We also call on the United Nations Human Rights Council to appoint a Special Rapporteur to assess the human rights situation in Nagorno-Karabakh."
