The defender of human rights made a statement today regarding the aggression of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the direction of the Armenian positions located in the Sotk and Norabak sectors.
"Today, from the early morning of September 1, near the settlements of Sotk and Norabak in the Gegharkunik region, the armed forces of Azerbaijan took aggressive actions, opening fire from weapons of various calibers in the direction of the Armenian positions. The armed forces of Azerbaijan also used ATS and mortars, as a result of which the Armenian service members' right to life and health ensured the security of the border population of the Republic of Armenia was violated. The Armenian side has 4 victims, 1 wounded.
The use of large-caliber weapons by the Azerbaijani armed forces against civilian settlements also undermines the life, health, and other fundamental rights of the civilian population.
The human rights defenders received alerts that the shots could be heard in the settlements. As a result, the residents were terrorized and in a state of uncertainty and stress. In Sotk, agricultural work has been completely stopped, the harvested grass has remained in the fields, and people cannot collect and transport it to the village. In addition, the agricultural equipment (tractor) was left in the area, and the driver, concerned that he could be targeted, did not approach the equipment."
