Leader of the Coptic Orthodox Church, Pope of Alexandria, and St. Patriarch Tavadros II of the See of Markos hosted the leader of the Armenian Diocese of Egypt, Fr. Bishop Ashot Mnatsakanyan and Armenian Ambassador to Egypt Hrachya Poladyan.
The illegal and inhuman blockade of the Artsakh region was discussed at the meeting, and Pope Tavadros II called on the Azerbaijani authorities to open the Lachine corridor of the South Caucasus to ensure the safety of the population and save them from starvation, emphasizing that this vital corridor has been closed since December 2022. The leader of the Orthodox Church expressed hope that peace would be established between the two neighboring countries.
During the meeting, the leader of the Armenian Diocese of Egypt and the Ambassador of Armenia in Cairo sent an invitation to the leader of the Coptic Orthodox Church, Tavadros II, to attend the blessing ceremony of Saint Myron, which will be held in Armenia in October. The Pope promised to send a delegation of the Coptic Church to Etchmiadzin to participate in the ceremony.
