RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan received the Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Victorin, completing her diplomatic mission in Armenia.
ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan thanked the Ambassador for her efforts in strengthening Armenia-EU relations and increasing the efficiency of cooperation during her term of office.
"We have always initiated ambitious projects with our partners from the European Union, because mutual trust and partnership are the basis. And all the achievements that exist today in the educational system, in the field of science, with the implementation of cultural and youth programs, are the result of joint work," said the minister of ESCS, highlighting the support provided by the European Union.
The minister particularly emphasized the importance of RA education until 2030. EU's support for the state development program, highlighting the work carried out under the "EU for Innovation" program, aimed at supporting the introduction of a new standard of general education. The projects implemented in the field of culture under the EU-Armenia TUMO Convergence Center and the EU4Armenia program "Creative Industry" were also highlighted, contributing to the development of the education and culture sectors.
Ambassador Andrea Victorin, the head of the EU delegation in Armenia, also thanked them for their practical cooperation and joint work. She expressed confidence that Armenia-EU cooperation in education, culture, youth, and science will be continuous with the implementation of new initiatives and programs.
The parties also referred to the need for peace education in the cooperation agenda, including regional countries and broader geography.
The minister referred to the humanitarian disaster caused by the blockade of the Lachin Corridor in Nagorno-Karabakh. Zhanna Andreasyan also emphasized the threat to cultural heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh, for the solution of which the ministry appealed to the head of UNESCO to send a fact-finding delegation.
Summarizing the meeting, Minister of ESCS Zhanna Andreasyan noted that EU Ambassador Andrea Viktorin was with Armenia in the most challenging days, from the pandemic to the war. "Regardless of your status, we will always be happy to see you in Armenia. You have been with us in our most difficult days. We hope you will also come to share our good days with us," concluded the minister.
