Vahram Atanesyan, a former member of the Central Committee of Armenia and Artsakh National Assembly, wrote on his Facebook page.
"To put an end to the widespread and developing insinuations about an internal political "crisis" or even a "change of power" in Artsakh, I inform you that I finished my phone conversation with Artur Tovmasyan a few moments ago. Mr. Tovmasyan has serious health problems; he was diagnosed with a hypertensive crisis on July 21.
He was examined in Stepanakert. The results were transferred to Yerevan. He is under the supervision of doctors, who have advised him to resign from the position of Speaker of the National Assembly to avoid possible health complications. If the preliminary medical conclusion is confirmed, Mr. Tovmasyan should not burden himself with mental work for at least one year.
Mr. Tovmasyan asked to convey that he continues to be a member of the political team of President Arayik Harutyunyan; he informed him about his resignation and readiness for further like-minded activities and received complete mutual understanding. We wish Arthur Tovmasyan good health, Artsakh political solidarity, and endurance to overcome the most challenging test and return to everyday life.
PS: Please spread it to my friends and the media. With that, we will have helped Artur Tovmasyan and, of course, Artsakh."
