The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan, received today the Vice President of the European Union Criminal Justice Agency (Eurojust) Boštjan Škrlec, who arrived in Armenia to participate in the event of the 105th anniversary of the establishment of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia and the conference organized jointly with the Office of the Council of Europe.
Anna Vardapetyan thanked the Eurojust partner for visiting Armenia. She emphasized that Armenia has permanently attached importance to the establishment and development of relations with various international structures during the formation of its statehood.
"Since March 2021, Armenia has been allowed to consider the issue of joining Eurojust. Taking into account the fact that one of the main goals of the agency is to provide systematic and effective support to the law enforcement agencies of Eurojust member countries in the fight against terrorism and serious transnational crimes, since 2022, Armenia has started negotiations with the EU on an agreement between Eurojust and Armenia on judicial cooperation in criminal cases. About the project," RA General Prosecutor emphasized.
He also expressed confidence that international cooperation in criminal cases will further develop after the agreement enters into force.
