Argishti Kyaramyan, the head of the investigative committee of the RA, received the delegation led by Catherine de Bolle, executive director of Europol, the European Union's law enforcement cooperation agency in Armenia. RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of the Netherlands Tigran Balayan also participated in the meeting.
The Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee, Argishti Kyaramyan, highly appreciated the mission of Europol, which provides expert and informational support to countries cooperating with the EU, in addition to the member states of the European Union, in the fight against transnational crimes. Argishti Kyaramyan expressed hope that the visit of the executive director will open a new page for close cooperation between Europol and the RA investigative committee.
The Chairman of the Investigative Committee conditioned its necessity on the importance of supporting international cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking, trafficking, cybercrimes, money laundering using cryptocurrencies, organized crime, as well as the return of capital taken out of the country through criminal means and the development of the capabilities of the RA Investigative Committee.
Mrs. de Bolle emphasized her visit's importance in expanding cooperation with the RA law enforcement system, clarifying the main directions of Europol's support to Armenia. He noted that Europol is open to cooperation with Armenia and is ready to support the further integration of Armenia with contact points operating in EU member or partner countries, the prerequisites for which have already been laid.
This international communication platform will also enable the RA Investigative Committee to dramatically increase the efficiency of exchanging the necessary information with the competent structures of the countries included in the network, responding to legal issues. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting. Agreements aimed at making the cooperation objective have been reached.
