As a result of discussions with USAID, a project was submitted to the RA government

On June 22, RA Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan received the delegation led by the Governor of Kansas, Laura Kelly. Vahe Ghazaryan highly appreciated the friendly relations between the two countries, which have a 30-year history and are based on shared values of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.

Vahe Ghazaryan emphasized the cooperation with the National Guard of the State of Kansas since 2003 within the framework of the US state cooperation program. He also thoroughly presented the ongoing reforms in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Laura Kelly appreciated the already formed cooperation, welcomed the implemented reforms, and expressed willingness to share the experience.

The parties discussed the work of the police in the fight against drug trafficking and the voluntary surrender of illegally stored weapons and ammunition. They've also referred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs rescue service. Director of Rescue Service - Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kamo Tsutsulyan presented the functions and structure of the service. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan referred to disaster risk management. Discuss the issues of disaster early warning, rapid response, disaster mitigation, and general direction of the disaster risk cycle.

She also noted discussions in this direction with USAID resulted in a project being presented to the RA government. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed. At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their willingness to continue and strengthen practical bilateral cooperation.
