On June 21, H.H. Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received Bert-Jan Ruysen, a Dutch member of the European Parliament, at the Holy Ejmiatsin Mother See.
At the meeting represented by MP Bert-Jan Ruysen, His Holiness expressed his gratitude to the Dutch Parliament for the adoption of resolutions condemning the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the blocking of the Lachine Corridor.
Referring to the blockade of Artsakh and the disastrous situation created as a result of it, as well as the problems of preserving the Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage, the Armenian Patriarch emphasized the implementation of clear and consistent steps by the international community in the direction of preventing Azerbaijani aggression and overcoming the challenges faced by Artsakh Armenians.
His Holiness also expressed his appreciation to Bert-Jan Ruysen, the Dutch member of the Council of Europe, for his efforts in protecting the rights of Christian minorities.
MP Bert-Jan Ruisen, condemning the sizeist policy adopted by Azerbaijan, expressed readiness to provide support in facing the problems of security and preservation of the spiritual and cultural heritage of Armenia and Artsakh. During the conversation, reference was made to the activities of the Armenian community in the Netherlands, as well as the existing cooperation with the Sister Churches.
