Tiran Hakobyan, director of the metallurgical plant being built in Yeraskh, GTB Holding, stated that there were various proposals to build this plant in other parts of Armenia. Still, Yeraskh was purposefully chosen to develop the border zone of the country.
He noted that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces targeted the factory's territory to obstruct its construction, "They are targeting equipment and working people, trying to obstruct the construction of the factory. Why they do that is clear because they don't want us to achieve economic empowerment, and our factory will make quite a serious contribution to the economy of Armenia. After the complete construction, we will produce 200-250 thousand tons of rebar annually."
The director emphasized that they are determined to continue the construction, and after settling and clarifying specific technical issues, the work will resume, "We are confident that we are in the sovereign territory of RA; we and our military will continue steadfastly. There is no panic, but of course, we are worried."
Hakobyan also informed that the total number of employees is about 200, of which almost 70 are Indian citizens.
